The video, which was directed by Gil Green, opens with Akon picking up his cousin (Klari Aniz), who is also his date, at a location.
An elderly man (perhaps a relative of the date) is seen reading a magazine about Akon partying in nearby clubs as he walks away with the woman. He is also seen glaring angrily at the two of them.
Akon keeps singing “Don’t Matter” during his date in the following clip.
It takes place in a community with social gathering spots like the beach, a village market, and a dance in a Caribbean beach setting.
Interestingly, the music gets more hotter in the closing scene of the video, with a Caribbean rhythm playing beneath the chorus of the song. Rapper Pitbull, a Cuban-American, makes a guest appearance.

The song reached its peak at number one for three weeks after making its Canadian singles chart debut inside the top 10. It got 3 times platinum certification as of January 2008, with 3,000,000 digital sales. With this song, Bizzy Bone, Candace Jones, Jadiel, and Nivea all created remixes. In the United States and abroad, the song has sold 5,600,000 copies as of 2011.
